The Galaxy A53 5G was among the first Samsung smartphones to start getting the April 2023 security update, but the rollout of the update didn't pick up steam as quickly as owners of the phone would want. The rollout has been limited to the North American region since the update was first released, but it seems Samsung is finally expanding availability to other markets.
Galaxy A53 April 2023 update expands outside the USA
The international Galaxy A53 models have now started getting the update in some countries. A53 owners in countries like Brazil and Panama (yes, availability still hasn't made its way too far from where it originally started, but at least it is in motion) can download the new update, which comes with firmware version A536EXXS5CWD2.
The update only brings security fixes to the A53, as confirmed by the firmware version. The April 2023 security patch fixes more than 60 vulnerablities found on Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets, including fixes for vulnerabilities affecting some modern Exynos chipsets (though not the one that powers the Galaxy A53). More details on all the security fixes can be found here.
As with all updates, this one can be downloaded directly on to the phone from its Settings » Software update menu. As usual, you can also take the alternative route of downloading the latest firmware from the SamMobile firmware archive and install it on the phone manually using a Windows PC.
