The Galaxy A55 is getting a software update that brings a new security patch. The Galaxy A55 is Samsung's most premium mid-range smartphone in 2024, and it is eligible for monthly updates like its predecessors.
But Samsung appears to be having issues sticking to the monthly schedule. Owners of the phone have been complaining in the company's forums about the lack of updates for some time, and not without reason: the update that's rolling out now comes almost two months after the previous one.

What's worse is that Samsung hasn't bothered to include the latest security patch in this update. Instead, it comes bundled with the May 2024 security patch. The build number for the update—A556EXXU3AXF2—suggests that it brings more than just security enhancements, but the changelog does not provide any details.
The A55 is the first Samsung smartphone to support seamless updates, which allows updates to be installed in the background while the device is being used, instead of restarting it and locking users out during the installation process.
We have been tipped that seamless updates may not be working as seamlessly (pardon the pun) as expected, and that it could be the reason why Samsung is taking so much time to release Galaxy A55 software updates. However, we haven't been able to confirm this.
In any case, the Galaxy A55 is finally getting a new update. You can download it from the phone's Settings » Software update menu. The rollout started in Thailand, but we expect it to go live in more countries soon.
Thanks for the tip, Hamid!
