Samsung has finally unveiled the Galaxy Buds Pro, and they are the company's highest-end truly wireless earbuds ever. They are designed to go head-to-head with the best in the industry, including the AirPods Pro. Unveiled alongside the Galaxy S21, the Galaxy Buds Pro feature a modern design, immersive sound, clear call quality, active noise cancellation, and a plethora of interesting features.
Samsung claims that the Galaxy Buds Pro offer unparalleled sound quality, thanks to their in-ear canal design and a dual-driver setup (11mm woofer and 6.5mm tweeter). There is intelligent active noise cancellation (ANC), too, so that you can drown out unwanted outside noise while listening to music or watching videos. The company says that ANC on the Galaxy Buds Pro can remove up to 99% of background noise. They feature Bluetooth 5.0 and support AAC, SBC, and SSC (Samsung Scalable Codec).
Galaxy Buds Pro have intelligent active noise cancellation, excellent call quality
A six-microphone setup (three mics on each earbud) offers clear call quality. To further improve audio quality during calls, the company has also equipped its high-end truly wireless earbuds with a Voice Pickup Unit (VPU) and external mics with a high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) so that your voice is heard clearly over background noise. The Wind Shield technology eliminates wind noise during calls.
While you are talking to a person nearby or taking a walk in the city, you can use the Ambient Mode to amplify nearby sounds by up to 20dB. The Galaxy Buds Pro can automatically switch between the Ambient and ANC modes, depending on whether you are talking to someone nearby. You can even adjust the ANC and Ambient Mode levels, depending on your preference.
360-degree spatial audio by Dolby, Game Mode, SmartThings Find
Additional features include 360-degree spatial audio, thanks to Dolby Head Tracking technology, bringing you an immersive audio experience. However, it only works when the Galaxy Buds Pro are paired with Galaxy smartphones and tablets. While recording videos, the mics on the Galaxy Buds Pro can be synchronized with the mics on the Galaxy S21 to capture rich audio.
These earphones can automatically switch between multiple Galaxy devices, depending on which device you are using actively. The Game Mode can be activated to reduce audio delay while gaming. If you lose the Galaxy Buds Pro, you can track and find them using the SmartThings Find feature.
Galaxy Buds Pro can last 28 hours with the charging case
The earbuds have 61mAh batteries each, while their case has a 472mAh battery. The Galaxy Buds Pro can last up to 8 hours on a single charge and an additional 20 hours worth of battery is left in the charging case. With the ANC mode turned on, they can last up to 5 hours on a single charge, with 13 hours left in the case after a full charge. A five-minute quick charge allows them to last up to an hour of music playback.
The Galaxy Buds Pro’s design is inspired by the Galaxy Buds Live, and they don’t protrude much outside the ears. They have an IPX7 design for water resistance, and they come in three colors: Phantom Black, Phantom Silver, and Phantom Violet. The charging case features a USB Type-C port and Qi wireless charging. The earbuds also feature touch controls and are compatible with the Galaxy Wearable app on Android and iOS devices.
