Although we're already two days deep into November, plenty of Samsung devices have yet to receive the October 2022 security patch. But the company continues rolling out updates to more phones, and we can now scratch the Galaxy M23 5G off the list.
The Galaxy M23 5G is now getting a new firmware update in a few European countries. As a matter of fact, Samsung appears to be rolling out two firmware updates for the M23 5G. Each update has its own firmware number, but both include the October security patch.
For the Galaxy M23 5G in Russia and Ukraine, the October 2022 update carries firmware version M236BXXS1AVJ5. For the rest of Europe, the October 2022 update can be identified by firmware version M236BXXS1AVJ2.
These updates don't include any other features aside from the improved security level, and the version of Android remains at 12. The Galaxy M23 5G is technically eligible for the Android 13 and One UI 5.0 firmware update, but this major OS upgrade is scheduled for January 2023, according to Samsung's tentative timeline for Germany.
For now, Galaxy M23 5G users in Europe should be able to download the October 2022 security update from our firmware section (for manual updates) or by opening the Settings app on the phone, accessing “Software update,” and tapping “Download and install.”
