Samsung has been rolling out the January 2023 security patch since the start of this month, and many mid-range and high-end smartphones have received the update already. Now, the carrier-locked versions of the phones in the Galaxy S20 lineup have started getting the new security update.
The latest software update for the carrier-locked versions of the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and the Galaxy S20 Ultra comes with firmware version G98xUSQS3GWA2 in the US. The update is currently available on Metro PCS and T-Mobile networks in the country, and more carriers will release the update within the next few days. The carrier-unlocked versions of phones in the Galaxy S20 series haven't received the update yet.
The January 2023 security patch in the new update fixes many security vulnerabilities, including those in Samsung Knox, Secure Folder, and Galaxy Store. It might also improve the phones' reliability and stability. No new features are expected to be a part of the new firmware.
If you live in the US and have any of the phones mentioned above, you can install the new update by heading to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. The new update can also be downloaded through our firmware section, and you can install it manually.
