We said it shouldn't take long for the Galaxy S20 LTE to receive the May 2022 security patch, and it didn't. The 5G variants took the lead earlier this week, but now Samsung is releasing a similar firmware update for the Galaxy S20 and S20+ with LTE capabilities.
The Galaxy S20 (SM-G980F) is getting the latest update in Switzerland. Samsung is a bit more generous with the Galaxy S20+ model (SM-G985F), as the May 2022 security patch is live in almost a dozen markets, including Greece, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Portugal, Austria, Nordic countries, Baltic countries, Luxembourg, Slovakia, and the Netherlands.
The new update carries firmware version G98xFXXUEFVDB. The May 2022 security patch got detailed at the beginning of the month. It's supposed to address several vulnerabilities in Google's Android OS and a handful of security flaws in Samsung's software, including the Weather app, Galaxy Themes, Setup Wizard, and more.
As always, the update can be downloaded on the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20+ via the update notification when it arrives or from the “Software update” menu inside the “Settings” app on your phone.
