For the past few months, countless Galaxy S22 Ultra customers took to the official Samsung Community forums to complain about GSM issues and dropped phone calls. Several firmware updates later, it appears that the situation has improved, for some users, at least.
Although some Samsung customers on the community forums still seem to experience GSM issues on the Galaxy S22 Ultra, others say that the June 2022 security patch has solved the problem, or that it at least made it less annoying.
Samsung started rolling out the June 2022 security patch for the Galaxy S22 series last week. The new firmware improves security and addresses other bugs, some of which concern the Camera app.
As for the GSM issues plaguing some Galaxy S22 Ultra devices for months, one Community forum poster going by the name “fasaco” noted that the GSM issue manifested itself only on a certain carrier's network but not others.
If true, it could mean that the GSM issues may somehow be related to the technologies employed by some carriers in their GSM towers and antennas. It could be that the Galaxy S22 Ultra doesn't get along with some network equipment, but the June update may have fixed the problem for many customers.
