Samsung claimed a few weeks ago that it would further improve the camera performance of the Galaxy S23 series with a software update in June. After delaying the update for a few weeks, the company finally released the June 2023 security update to the Galaxy S23 series last week. Now, the update is also being released in China and the US.

Galaxy S23 camera update brings 2x zoom option in Portrait mode

In the US, the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra are getting the new update with firmware version S91xUSQU1AWF3. This update is meant for the carrier-locked versions of the three phones. This update improves the overall performance of the cameras. According to previous reports, the new software update also brings the 2x zoom option in the Portrait mode in the Camera app. It also fixes some autofocus-related issues, and the image processing style in the Night mode has improved. Some users also claim that animations are smoother and the haptics are better. The June 2023 security patch fixes over 50 security flaws.

You can now check for the new update if you have a Galaxy S23 series phone and live in China or the US. Navigate to Settings » Software update and tap Download and install to check for the new software update. You can also choose to download the appropriate firmware file from our firmware database once it becomes available. You can then use a Windows PC and the Odin tool to flash the firmware manually.

Samsung is yet to release the new camera update and the June 2023 security patch in various other African, Asian (including India), and Latin American countries.
