If the latest Galaxy S24 launch rumor is to be believed, Samsung's next flagship phone could be unveiled in less than two months. Samsung is reportedly planning to launch the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra on January 17 and could start selling it on retail shelves from January 30.
As one would expect, the Galaxy S24 series will bring some changes and upgrades over the Galaxy S23 lineup. For the Galaxy S24+, one upgrade will come in the form of more RAM. For the first time since 2019, a Galaxy S Plus model will feature 12GB of RAM, which was confirmed by benchmark listings for the Galaxy S24+.
But what about the Galaxy S24? Can we expect the base model to get a variant with 12GB of RAM as well, or is Samsung going to stick to 8GB of RAM once again? Since the Galaxy S24 series hasn't been officially announced, we can't be sure of anything, but we can turn to benchmark listings to get an idea of what we should expect.
No signs yet of a RAM upgrade for the smallest Galaxy S24 model
Going by benchmarks, it looks like the Galaxy S24 will not get a RAM upgrade, as every benchmark listing for the base model reports 8GB of RAM. Is it possible Samsung just hasn't gotten around to benchmarking the variant with 12GB of RAM? Yes, but it's not very likely this late in the Galaxy S24's development.
As always, things can change as we get closer to the launch of Samsung's next flagship, so we're not jumping to conclusions yet. But we do recommend keeping your expectations in check if you are hoping to see more RAM on the smallest Galaxy S24.
