Galaxy S24 Ultra brought the thrill of sailing to Paris 2024 Olympics viewers
Samsung, a long-time Olympics partner, used the Galaxy S24 Ultra to shoot FPV videos during the sailing events at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Those videos brought the thrill of sailing to viewers and made them feel like they were beside their favorite athlete in the Mediterranean Sea during the event.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra was mounted on each boat used during sailing events. For kitesurfing and windsurfing, the phone was mounted on the athletes' shoulders and the buoys around. Samsung worked with the Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS), the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and other Olympic partners to plan the idea and related technicalities. This phase required months of research, development, and testing.
To guarantee that the best possible video quality reaches viewers back home, Samsung optimized the Galaxy S24 Ultra's optical image stabilization (OIS), increased its transmission power, and installed cellular network relay towers on the chase boats.
Samsung says it is committed to bringing more immersive experiences to fans worldwide. The South Korean firm also gifted one Galaxy Z Flip 6 Olympics Edition smartphone to each athlete and their support staff. Some of the video footage of the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics was also shot using the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra has a 200MP primary rear camera with OIS, a 12MP ultrawide camera, a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS, a 50MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom and OIS, and a 12MP selfie camera. It can record up to 8K 30fps videos using its primary and 50MP telephoto cameras and 4K 60fps videos using all its cameras. Its primary camera can record 4K 120fps videos, too.
