Samsung pretty much always releases new software updates to different models of a flagship at the same time, but the company made an exception with the latest update for the Galaxy S24 lineup.
Galaxy S24 Ultra in India can now grab the latest security update
In some markets, like India, the May 2024 security update was initially released only for the base and Plus models. Now, a couple of days later, the update is available for the Galaxy S4 Ultra as well and can be identified by the build number S928BXXS2AXD5.
It's unclear why the Ultra model didn't receive the update with the other models, as the update only brings improved security to Samsung's latest flagship and doesn't include any of the camera improvements that users are expecting. However, this update makes it impossible to downgrade to previous firmware versions, which suggests Samsung may have had a good reason for the delay.
In any case, Galaxy S24 Ultra owners can now download the newest update in India by going to the phone's Settings » Software update menu and hitting the Download and install button. They can also download the complete firmware file from our archives and use a Windows PC to make the upgrade to the latest software.
