This is the first software update after the watches received the Wear OS 4-based One UI 5 Watch update a few months ago.
Galaxy Watch 4 gets new security update
The new software update for the Galaxy Watch 4 comes with firmware version R870XXU1HWL1, according to a new report from 9To5Google. The update is likely available in the US and could be released in more markets soon. The update changelog mentions that the stability of the smartwatch has been improved. No new features or performance improvements are expected with the devices. While the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic information isn't available yet, it is likely that it is also getting the new matching software update.
The December 2023 security patch, which is likely included in the latest update for the Galaxy Watch 4 series, fixes around 75 security vulnerabilities discovered in the previous software version.
