Last week, the second-generation Galaxy Z Fold received the June 2023 security update in Europe. Now, that update is expanding to the carrier-locked and unlocked Galaxy Z Fold 2 units in the US. Other markets could soon get the June 2023 security update as well.
The carrier-locked version of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is getting a new update in the US that bears firmware version F916USQU3JWF1. The unlocked version of the foldable smartphone is now getting the newest security update with firmware version F916U1UEU3JWF1. Both devices are now on the June 2023 security patch that fixes over 60 security flaws found in Galaxy phones and tablets. It doesn't bring any major new features or performance improvements.
Galaxy Z Fold 2 June 2023 security update: How to install it?
If you have a Galaxy Z Fold 2 in the US, you can check for the new update. You can do that by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually. You would need a Windows computer and the Odin software tool to do that.
Samsung released the Galaxy Z Fold 2 in 2020 with Android 10 onboard. The device received the Android 11 update in early 2021 and the Android 12 update in late 2021. The foldable phone received the Android 13 update in late 2022 and the One UI 5.1 update earlier this year.
