Two days ago, Samsung released the August 2023 security update to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 in Puerto Rico. Now, the new security update is rolling out more widely to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 in the US. The August 2023 security update has also been released to factory unlocked versions of the Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and the Galaxy Z Fold 4.

The newest security update for the factory-unlocked version of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 comes with firmware version F926U1UES4FWG7 in the US. It is available on Dish Wireless's mobile network. The update brings the August 2023 security patch that fixes 74 security flaws found in the previous version of the software, but not all of these flaws are related to the Galaxy Z Fold 3. Looking at the firmware version, it looks like the update brings just security fixes and no new features or performance improvements.

Galaxy Z Fold 3 August 2023 security update: How to install?

If you have a factory-unlocked version of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 in the US, you can now check for the new update by heading over to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. The new update can also be manually flashed by downloading the new firmware file from our firmware database and flashing it using Samsung's Odin tool via a PC running a Windows OS.

Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold 3 in the second half of 2021 with Android 11 onboard. The foldable phone received the Android 12 update at the end of 2021 and the Android 13 update in the fourth quarter of 2022. Later this year, the phone is expected to get the Android 13-based One UI 6 update.
