Now that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 are out and about, Samsung has uploaded some manuals for prospective buyers for the foldables. Prima facie, it would seem like there would be no need for such manuals, but the devices offer quite a few new features that users might not be familiar with.
For starters, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is the first of its kind to support an S Pen. Many would assume that a Galaxy Note's S Pen would work just fine, but that isn't the case. On the contrary, one runs the risk of damaging the phone's delicate protective screen. Samsung emphasized that only specific models of S Pen — the S Pen Fold Edition and the S Pen Pro — will work with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 as they feature a rounded rubber tip to reduce friction.
Additionally, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 also have some additional software features that are custom-designed for the foldable. Regular One UI users might not be aware of the features, and that's where the manuals come in. Unfortunately, DeX support is not included for the Galaxy Z Flip 3, which is a tad disappointing for power users.
Lastly, foldable phones are in a different league compared to regular devices. Something as mundane as lugging them around in your handbag requires special care, as an oddly placed object could render your shiny new $1,800/$1000 foldable a paperweight (but thankfully, water is no longer an issue).
