Google has continued its effort to improve its stock apps for Android after launching Android 12L. The company introduced improvements for big-screen devices like foldable phones and tablets. It also made moving data from one app to the other easier. The company is now trying to modernize the older bits in Google Keep.
Google Keep to get a floating navigation bar soon
Google is testing a new design element for the navigation bar. The floating navigation bar combines the floating action button (New Note) with the navigation bar available in the current version of Google Keep for Android. It combines three buttons: New Note, New List, and New Drawing. Since it is now centered on the bottom of the screen, it looks pleasing to the eyes.
It definitely makes the app's design more modern. This new design element was found by TheSpAndroid (via 9to5Google) and is currently visible in the 5.24.x version of the app. However, there's no saying when this feature will be rolled out in stable form to all users. However, we expect the new feature to go live in the next few months (before the release of the stable version of Android 15). It will then be available for all Galaxy phones and tablets.
Despite all these additions, Google Keep is a very basic note-taking app. While Google is testing the ability to use Google Gemini to create list ideas for specific needs, it is nowhere as feature-rich as Samsung Notes.
