Google highlighted its ‘key initiatives' for the Play Store and Android. Google notes that in 2023, it will focus on making Android a more ‘private mobile ecosystem.' Moreover, this year, Google Play's Data safety section will get improvements and more transparency around how developers collect, share, and protect user data. Also, the new section aims to provide better clarity and control around deletion practices.
Google has heard a lot from developers that they wish to introduce additional web3 components, including tokenizing digital assets as NFTs, into their apps and games. The tech giant noted that before going ahead with the plan, they must strike a balance between innovation and user data security. This is why Google has begun discussing data policies and how they can evolve the platform to handle such opportunities.
Google Play also updates policies to strengthen the protection of kids and families
Google launched the ‘Play Developer Community' to further strengthen developer support in February this year. The company is also expanding its pilot programs, such as the Google Play Developer Helpline, which offers direct policy support. Google highlights that it has “expanded the pilot to nearly 60,000 in 26 countries (16,000 more developers and 9 more countries since November 2022). We've completed nearly 5,000 policy support sessions with developers and with a satisfaction score of 90%.”
For families, Google has improved the Google Play Store to allow easy discovery of great apps and get policy updates to safeguard their kids' safety. On the SDK front, developers have been asking for help deciding which SDKs are better and more reliable to use. So, Google Play has created ways to allow SDK providers to directly message the developers regarding critical issues with specific SDK versions via the Play Console and Android Studio.
It will also let you know how you can fix SDK-related crashes. This also includes launching the Google Play SDK Index, which will give you insights and usage data for the 100 most popular commercial SDKs on Google Play. By definition, all these policies will help Samsung's Galaxy smartphones and tablets become more safe and secure.
