Google Play gets Purchase Requests for family payment method

Google Play is the primary place for Android users to get apps and games. It features a plethora of free and premium apps to choose from. When you get your kids their own phone or tablet, they might want to purchase the games available on the Google Play Store. To avoid overspending or purchasing of non-appropriate content, the Play Store has a payment method that lets the family approve their payment requests.

Now, in a new update, Google Play is getting the ‘Purchase Requests' feature. This will allow family members to request the family manager to buy something from the Play Store. The family manager will then take a call on whether or not to approve the payment. This will work even if the family manager hasn't defined any payment method. He/she can easily authorize a one-off payment using any of their saved payment options.

As per the official announcement, users can also make use of their Google Play gift cards to complete the payment. When any of the family members try to purchase anything from the Play Store, a request notification will be sent over to the family manager. You can also take a call on the purchase request later by accessing the approval request queue. All the completed transactions will be available to view in the Order History section.

Children won't have access to view the family manager's payment method without permission from the family manager. The feature is rolling out gradually and will take time to arrive for everyone. This is a great time for the Google Play's Purchase Request feature to make its way, as the holiday season is about to begin.
