Google has announced that Google Wallet will now automatically fetch boarding passes and movie tickets from emails on Gmail. According to the company, the new feature “is live for some global movie chains and airlines” and it is “working to expand this.”
Up until now, there were two ways to add a ticket to Google Wallet. First, after purchasing a ticket, click on the Add to Google Wallet button on the booking partner’s website. Second, take a screenshot of the PDF file of the ticket, with the QR code visible in it, and then add that photo to Google Wallet.
With the new feature, if you get a confirmation email about a flight or a movie ticket in Gmail, it will get automatically added to Google Wallet. However, as Google has pointed out, the new feature isn’t available for all booking platforms for flight and movie tickets.
Earlier this month, Google also added the ability to Google Wallet for you to archive passes manually, which will help you to remove a pass from the app’s home screen without deleting it. We hope that Samsung also adds these features to Samsung Wallet as they would offer a lot of convenience to users.
