Samsung is the world's biggest brand when it comes to TVs, soundbars, high-end gaming monitors, and smartphones. The company has been putting in a lot of effort to reduce the environmental impact of its products and the entire supply chain. The company announced that half of all the TVs and home appliances it sells in South Korea are energy-efficient models.
The company divides its energy-efficient home appliances into two categories: First-Grade and AI-Powered. Out of all the energy-efficient appliances it sells in South Korea, Samsung claims that First-Grade products exceed one out of three sold. First-Grade energy-efficient appliances that it sells consume less power than the minimum standard set by the government. The ones that are AI-powered offer even more energy efficiency through the AI Saving mode.
Samsung's Bespoke Grande Washing Machine AI consumes 20% lower power than the lowest best energy efficiency grade. The Bespoke 4-Door Refrigerator consumes 22% less energy than the lowest energy grade. The company's Wind-Free AC uses 10% less energy than the lowest energy consumption grade set by the South Korean government.
All the AI-powered energy-efficient appliances sold by Samsung can be controlled and monitored using the SmartThings app. The SmartThings AI Saving Mode saves additional energy by looking at various aspects. If a user sets a monthly energy consumption target, the AI Saving Mode reduces power usage accordingly.
Additionally, Samsung supports small businesses by supporting a program that's run by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and the Korea Electric Power Corporation. This program offers up to a 40% refund when someone returns their older ACs and buys a product with First Grade energy efficiency. Among Samsung's AC lineup, 59 models are eligible for a refund. After purchasing one of those models, the buyer can apply for a refund from KEPCO's official website.
