Via an announcement on Twitter, the popular social media app Instagram revealed the rollout of a new feature. The new Instagram ‘Collaborative Collections' feature is where you can save interesting posts with your friends. Moreover, both you and your friend will be able to view and contribute to this collaborative collection via group chat or one-on-one DM. This feature will come to your Samsung smartphone soon.
With Instagram's new Collaborative Collections feature, you can view all of the shared content of shared interest with your friends or family in a dedicated space. As first reported by TechCrunch, this new feature is looked upon as a way for Instagram to take on its rival Pinterest's ‘Group Boards' feature introduced back in 2018, which allows users to collaborate with each other.
Instagram Collaborative Collections is a fun way to brainstorm ideas
As stated in Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri’s Instagram Updates channel, the collaborative collections feature lets you and your friend save posts from Instagram’s feed, Explore page, and even DMs. To use this feature, all you need to do is hit the Bookmark icon at the corner of the post that you wish to save, then select the option to create a new collaborative collection.
You can then give it a name and toggle the ‘Allow friends to join this collection' option to let your friends contribute, view, and collaborate on the saved posts. You can also create a collaborative collection from within a chat as well. Once created, anyone within the chat will be able to add or remove images.
One important thing to note here is that if you add a post from a private account to the Instagram collaborative collections, only the people following the account will be able to see the post. And in case the creator of the post deletes it, Instagram will remove the post from your collaborative collection.
