Twitter's (now called ‘X') competitor, Instagram Threads, is developing a new feature called ‘Tags'. Threads Tags work similarly to hashtags, i.e., categorize or group together similar posts and present them alongside the same topic. While this feature of Instagram Threads Tags is similar to hashtags, some functions differ.
Unlike hashtags, on Instagram Threads, you can only have a single tag or topic on a post. So, if you are used to using hundreds of hashtags instead of maximizing the reach of your post on Instagram, you have to hit the bullseye with the correct tag on Threads. As per Meta, this is done to make it easier for those who would like to specifically search for posts related to a topic or a tag that they find interesting to read.
Instagram is expected to debut Threads in Europe sometime this month
Apart from this, as per the official Threads post, one big difference between Instagram Threads Tags and hashtags exists. You can add tags by adding # in line with the text., however, they don't appear in the published post. Instead, they will appear in the blue text in the published post, more or less like a hyperlink. Moreover, you also have the option to add a tag by tapping the # symbol on the new post UI.
Moreover, users can use an existing topic or have the freedom to create their own. Additionally, Instagram Threads can include spaces and special characters if you like. As far as availability is concerned, Instagram Threads users can use this feature right away. Meanwhile, some good news for the people of Europe, Threads is rumored to make its debut in Europe sometime this month.
