WhatsApp has been working on a bunch of features to expand its feature list and make it more appealing to its users. Most of the features are mainly focused on group chats. For instance, the recent one that allows group admins to delete messages for everyone, and more. There is another feature that WhatsApp has been spotted testing in its latest beta version.
According to WABetaInfo, the latest feature lets WhatsApp users know who has left the group or who has been removed from it by the admin themselves. This would negate the need to ask the group members who and how someone was removed from the group. This WhatsApp feature would be available for both group members and admins.
This new WhatsApp group feature will be accessible under the list of current participants in the “Group Info” tab. Here, you will see a new option, “See Past Participants.” This section would contain the names of the removed members. It even gets a dedicated search bar to find someone specific, which is good for a group that has a huge member list.
The new feature is under testing on iOS, but could soon arrive on Android and desktop too
Along with this, the present system of notifying everyone in the chat when a member leaves or gets removed from a group has also been removed. Only admins will get the in-chat messages when someone leaves or is removed from the group. All those who have left or been removed from the group will only be visible in the “See Past Participants” list.
The feature was spotted in the latest WhatsApp beta version 22.16.0.75 on the iPhone, but could soon come to Android too. Moreover, because of the app's cross-platform nature, this new WhatsApp group feature could also arrive on the desktop app sooner or later. This feature could be beneficial for small businesses that communicate with their clients through WhatsApp. On Android, WhatsApp is also testing a feature that would allow you to choose who can see your online status.
