It's the beginning of the month, which means we can expect the latest security patch for May to roll out for an increasing number of Samsung Galaxy devices. Next in line for the May 2022 security patch is the Galaxy S20 5G series, and the new firmware is now rolling out in Europe.
To narrow it down even further, the May 2022 security patch is live for the Galaxy S20 5G (SM-G981B), Galaxy S20+ 5G (SM-G986B), and Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G (SM-G988B) in Germany. The update carries firmware version G98xBXXUEFVDB.
Galaxy S20 customers in Germany should receive the update notification at any moment. The same notification can be triggered via the Settings app from the “Software update” menu. SamMobile readers who prefer manually updating their devices can also download the official firmware files from our website.
The update should reach more markets soon, and the LTE Galaxy S20 variants shouldn't be too far behind the 5G series, either. We'll keep you posted as soon as the rollout extends its reach.
The Galaxy S20 series continues to enjoy monthly security patches alongside newer Samsung flagships, and it was among the first to receive Android 12 and One UI 4.1. The Galaxy S20 trio is eligible for the upcoming Android 13 update, though it may take a while before the beta phases complete and the update lands on the 2020 Galaxy lineup.
Until then, you can be sure that Samsung will continue rolling out new security patches for the Galaxy S20 series in a timely manner, month after month.
