Larian Studios released Baldur’s Gate 3 on Microsoft Xbox Series X|S last month. Since then, the game has had a bug that’s causing the saved progress to go missing. Due to that, people have lost several hours of game progress. Microsoft and Larian Studios have released multiple updates to the console and the game to eliminate the bug but nothing has worked so far. Now, Microsoft is making another attempt to solve the issue.

In a new post on X (previously known as Twitter), Larian Studios says that Microsoft has identified what's causing saved games to go missing, and the company will roll out a firmware update to solve the problem. According to the developer, people can either install the new firmware manually on 16 January 2024 or wait a week longer to get the update automatically (OTA). The CEO of Larian Studios, Swen Vincke, has also made a post on X saying the same thing. Microsoft, however, hasn’t spoken on the matter yet.

It would be wise to avoid playing the game until the new firmware arrives. However, if you don’t want to wait till then, you should at least follow the steps pointed out by Microsoft to avoid losing the progress. While we are on the matter, it’s worth mentioning that last month, Swen announced that Baldur’s Gate 3 isn’t coming to Xbox Game Pass. Palword, on the other hand, is arriving on 19 January to the subscription service.
