Currently, the Microsoft Store on the Xbox lineup of gaming consoles in India allows people to make payments for their purchases from the marketplace through credit or debit cards issued by VISA and Mastercard. Unfortunately, the platform does not support the most popular digital payment method in India, which is the Unified Payments Interface, or what most people call UPI. Fortunately, that seems to have started changing.
According to a post from @XboxIndia_ on X (formerly known as Twitter), Microsoft has added the UPI payment option to the Microsoft Store on Xbox. That means people can now pay for the games that they purchase from the marketplace using UPI. Reportedly, Microsoft is rolling out the UPI payment method in a phased manner, which means that it will become available to all users in the next few days.
While the screenshot shared by @XboxIndia_ confirms the news, Microsoft hasn’t made an official announcement about it. Typically, brands don’t make announcements for such additions but the implementation of UPI on Xbox will be greatly helpful for users. Considering that, Microsoft might make an announcement about it soon. In the meantime, you can check out the games that have arrived on Xbox Game Pass this month.
