Nintendo has slowly but surely entered the modern era of gaming by adopting more internet features over the years. Now, the company says its user base consists of more than 330 million Nintendo accounts worldwide.
The company, whose latest Switch gaming console boasts a Samsung OLED display, says that before the introduction of the Nintendo Account feature, “it was not easy to maintain users' information across platform generations, including details such as their software purchases and gameplay records.”
Things will be different with the next-gen consoles. Once Nintendo created the Account feature, it made it possible to use it as a “foundation upon which Nintendo can maintain a lasting relationship with consumers” (via Nintendo Life).
The mobile app is also helping Nintendo gain some users
Nintendo says more than 330 million accounts exist worldwide, covering 164 countries and even including some regions where the Nintendo Switch and other Nintendo consoles are not officially sold.
The company also appears to be growing and maintaining its user base with the help of the Nintendo mobile app.
Likewise, the new 99-themed battle royale game, F-ZERO 99, has earned some new paid subscribers. As of the end of September, Nintendo says the paid Switch Online service amassed more than 38 million members worldwide.
With new deals and a new Smash Bros. Ultimate-themed Switch console launching for the holidays, these numbers are bound to go up by the end of the year.
