Samsung is usually among the first brands to bring new Wear OS updates to smartwatches. The Galaxy Watch 4 series was the first to run Wear OS 3 and among the first to get the Wear OS 3.5 update. Earlier this month, the company claimed that it will release a beta version of One UI 5 Watch before the end of May 2023, but that hasn't happened yet.
One UI 5 Watch Beta update may have been delayed
Technically, today is the last day for Samsung to release the One UI 5 Watch Beta update and stay true to its own promise. However, it doesn't look like the company will be able to release the One UI 5 Watch Beta update today, as there have been no signs of a Beta Update Program. It is confirmed that the One UI 5 Watch Beta update will be released first to Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 series devices in South Korea and the US. Then, the update will expand to more countries.
One UI 5 Watch update: New features
One UI 5 Watch is based on Wear OS 4, which Google revealed during the Google I/O 2023 event. It brings better sleep tracking and sleep coaching. It uses blood oxygen levels, snoring data, and sleep phases to improve your sleep pattern. The update will also bring personalized heart rate zones to offer more tailored fitness tracking metrics. Depending on your age and body conditions, One UI 5 Watch will offer more personalized interval training programs.
Samsung's upcoming software update for the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 series will enable Fall Detection by default for all users aged 55 or above. The updated SOS system will enable direct communication and send your location data to emergency phone numbers. The update might also bring Material You design language in more places, improved Tiles, and more stock apps.
