It appears that the One UI 7.0 beta update won't be released anytime soon. Samsung was expected to release at the end of July, but two months have passed since, and there are still no signs of the update. It is now being reported that the company will bring AI-powered search improvements to the stock Gallery app with One UI 7.0.

Stock Gallery app in One UI 7.0 could have Google Photos like AI-powered search

After the new app icon for Samsung's stock Gallery app was leaked, it appears that it isn't the only thing that Samsung is changing. According to Ice Universe (@UniverseIce), the Gallery app will get several optimizations and improvements, including AI-powered search functionality.

While they didn't reveal exactly what those optimizations and AI search are, we think the Gallery app will get an AI-powered search similar to Google Photos, wherein you can search for photos and videos by describing what you are searching for. For example, you can search for matching pictures and videos using the phrase “beach photos from Bali in June 2024.

The story continues after our Galaxy AI video below.

The stock Gallery app in One UI 6.1.1 is one of the smartphone industry's best image and video gallery apps. While Samsung introduced many Galaxy AI-powered image editing tools, it didn't improve the search functionality with the One UI 6.1 or 6.1.1 updates. Now, it appears that Samsung will improve search in the app with the One UI 7.0 update.

One UI 7.0 may not be revealed at SDC 2024

Ice Universe also claimed that One UI 7.0 won't likely be released anytime soon. Samsung will hold the Samsung Developer Conference 2024 tomorrow in the US.

Usually, the South Korean firm releases the beta version of One UI before its annual developer conference and showcases its features at SDC, but it failed to release the beta version of One UI 7.0 before SDC 2024 this year, so it isn't clear if it will showcase One UI 7.0 features at the developer-focussed event.
