There's a new update available for Samsung Accessibility in One UI, and while it's a minor release, it addresses a pretty big flaw affecting some Galaxy device customers using One UI 4.0 or newer.
Samsung Accessibility version 13.1.01.4 is now rolling out, and the official changelog mentions only one addition. Specifically, the latest update claims to have fixed the Extra Dim option for users who couldn't find it.
Extra Dim was added to One UI with version 4.0. It's not a feature developed by Samsung but by Google, and it's an Android OS component. And according to Samsung, this feature was missing for some Galaxy device customers. No other details were mentioned in the changelog. But needless to say, if you can't find the Extra Dim option or quick toggle on your One UI 4 device, this new Accessibility update to 13.1.01.4 might be exactly what your phone or tablet needs.
This Extra Dim feature was one of our favorite additions to One UI 4.0. It's simple yet effective and can save battery life while protecting the user's eyes at night. It's a post-processing effect and is especially useful for Galaxy devices whose displays can't get dim enough. It even works in Samsung DeX, so if your monitor is too bright and you don't want to fiddle around with the onboard settings, you can try enabling this One UI feature to save a bit of time and energy.
Samsung customers should be able to download the latest Accessibility update via the Galaxy Store. Galaxy device users can verify which Accessibility version they're using by launching the Settings app, tapping “Accessibility,” followed by “About Accessibility.”
