Samsung offers one of the highest warranty periods on home appliances, up to 20 years on many types of products. The brand manages to provide a warranty for such a long period of time because it engineers them to last at least that long and tests them thoroughly, and now, the South Korean tech giant is giving us a sneak peek at its rigorous testing process.
In a press release, Samsung details how it tests home appliances before launching them in the market. The brand has also released a video about it, which you can check out below.
The video starts off by showing how Samsung tests refrigerators. Samsung has shown two of the many tests it performs. First is the Temperate Maintenance Test. It checks if the product manages to maintain an optimal cooling performance in challenging external environments. Second is the Door Slam Test. It simulates the act of opening and closing the door and checks if it can withstand opening and closing thousands of times.

Samsung then moves on to show how it tests washing machines. Although the brand demonstrated only one test, the Water Protection Test, where the company sprays water on a washing machine from all angles to see if it can withstand wet environments, it sheds light on the company’s rigorous testing process.
The South Korean tech giant also gives a glimpse at how it tests electric cooktops, microwave ovens, and dishwashers. In the Durability Test, the company places cooking utensils on electric cooktops to heat up water to estimate their lifespan in real-world conditions. The Basked In & Out Test simulates the act of pulling out and closing the drawers of dishwashers many times to see if its rollers develop an issue.
Speaking of home appliances, with 2025 kicking in, Samsung will soon start launching new home appliances for this year, which it might showcase at CES 2025.
