In an official newsroom blog, Samsung announced that its 5G networking equipment is being used by Japanese telecom operator NTT East for its private 5G network. The telecom operator is using Samsung Networks' cloud-native 5G Macro Core and Radio Access Network (RAN). This would enhance connectivity and unlock diversified use cases for many businesses across various industries in Japan.

NTT East selected Samsung Electronics for its private 5G network rollout in March 2022.  Both NTT East and Samsung have performed multiple tests and demonstrations on how they can optimize Samsung's 5G technology and network solutions for NTT East's customers. And finally, this has led to this successful commercialization.

Satoshi Iwao, Vice President and Head of the Network Division at Samsung Electronics Japan, said, “Samsung’s end-to-end 5G network solutions deliver on the capabilities required to meet the unique requirements of each enterprise. We look forward to continue working together with NTT East to bring enhanced connectivity to power next-generation solutions that help businesses build a smarter future.

Samsung is also deploying its 5G solutions in countries like Korea and the US

Samsung is offering its 5G network solutions to NTT East for both its indoor and outdoor radios, baseband units, and the cloud-native 5G Macro Core. This core solution supports a mid-band (4.75GHz) spectrum dedicated to private 5G networks that are local in Japan.

Using Samsung's 5G cloud-native 5G Macro Core, developers can develop and run apps in cloud-based environments and get improved agility and scalability. Also, Samsung's 5G network solutions will help many across industries, including “agriculture, automotive, construction, education, healthcare, manufacturing, telecommunications, and transportation.

Apart from Japan, Samsung is also deploying its 5G private network solutions in South Korea and the US. In Korea, with Samsung's support, the first private 5G network deployment took place at Naver’s new headquarters. Whereas in the US, Samsung delivered 5G FWA solutions to expand rural coverage and provided CBRS solutions to connect campuses and other enterprises.
