Samsung often finds unique ways to promote its latest Galaxy devices, but its latest campaign in the UK might take the cake. On Old Street in North-East Central London, the company folded a single-decker bus in half to celebrate the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6.
It's not a real bus, but nor is it something created with Sketch to Image — which you can read more about in our Fold 6 review. It's a real art piece shaped like a folded bus, created by artist Caspar Philips using numerous materials recycled from real London buses.
The folded bus measures 6 meters by 6.2 meters, and its rear sits 6 meters off the ground. The art piece was constructed to scale and took two months to design and build.
Old Street is now Fold Street
Along with the oddly shaped bus, Samsung installed other folded art pieces in the Old Street area as part of its “Fold Town” art project. This includes a folded bench, a red telephone box, and a lamppost that folds at nearly three meters tall. These additional folded items were designed and created by Jem Hughes.
The icing on the cake is that Samsung temporarily renamed the Old Street Tube station “Fold Street.” Samsung partnered with TfL (Transport for London) to do this.
And, as some of you might recall, it's not the first time Samsung and TfL have made temporary changes to the London Underground. Earlier this year, Samsung and TfL redesigned the Tube map to promote Circle to Search.

“Welcome to Fold Town!” said Director of Marketing Annika Bizon. “To celebrate the arrival of the new Galaxy Z series, we wanted to flip East London upside down with a series of unexpected activations, including the renaming of Old Street to Fold Street.”
Samsung says the Fold Town art installation will be up until July 27. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 were officially released today after a pre-order period of two weeks.
The Galaxy Z Flip 6 starts at Z £1,049, and the Galaxy Z Fold 6 costs £1,799 and up. The base models for both phones have 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
