Samsung has brought the January 2020 security patch to yet another flagship device, following a release for the Galaxy S10 series and Galaxy Note 10 series a few days back. The Galaxy Fold is now receiving a new update that bundles the latest Android security patch, which was detailed by Samsung earlier today. Sporting build number F900FXXS2ASL6, the update is rolling out in France and should make its way to other markets in the next few days.
The update brings no new features, improvements, or changes; only the latest security patch is included. Galaxy Fold owners are likely to have to wait until the Android 10 and One UI 2.0 update before they see their foldable phone-cum-tablet gain new features. The Fold is scheduled to get Android 10 in April, which is quite late for a $2000 device but is in keeping with the lackluster support the Fold has received since it went on sale, especially for the 5G model.
Of course, security updates are just as important as feature updates, so you should download the latest one for your Galaxy Fold as soon as possible. To do so, open the Settings app on the device, select Software update, then tap Download and install to update it over the air. You can also update by installing the latest firmware on your Fold after downloading it from our firmware archive.
