As odd as it sounds, Samsung's vacuum cleaners and select flagship phones have had something in common for a few years, i.e., bristles. The Sweeper Hinge mechanism employed by Samsung's foldable phones, for better or for worse, was inspired by vacuum cleaners. And now, Samsung's vacuums have one more thing in common with premium Galaxy handsets: AI (artificial intelligence).
Included in Samsung's Bespoke line for 2024 is a new Jet Bot Combo vacuum cleaner. And like many of the latest Samsung Bespoke home appliances, the new vacuum uses Machine Learning and AI in clever ways.
The clever AI that roams around your house and cleans your floors
Samsung's Bespoke Jet Bot AI Robot Vacuum combines AI-based image recognition capabilities with powerful sensors, including a LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) sensor, to vacuum around obstacles and create maps of its surroundings.
The tech giant trained the Jet Bot AI through more than one million images. That's how the vacuum cleaner can recognize countless objects around the home and avoid obstacles.
This information gathered by the vacuum's onboard LiDAR sensor can also be used by the SmartThings app to create a 3D map of the user's home. The 3D map feature was added to SmartThings through a recent update and allows users to create 3D maps using floor plans, address databases, manual sketches, and devices equipped with LiDAR, such as the Jet Bot AI and upcoming Ballie robot companion.
In addition, the Bespoke Jet Bot vacuum uses this clever AI system to detect the type of surfaces it cleans in real time. It then leverages this information to adjust its cleaning program optimally based on different floor types. This leads not only to better cleaning but also higher energy efficiency.
Samsung's new Jet Bot AI Robot is now available for pre-order, and early buyers can take advantage of a $300 discount. Hit the pre-order button below for more details.
