Samsung is taking away an important feature from older phones. The company has announced that the Samsung Health Monitor app won't be supported on Galaxy phones running Android 11 (or older).

Samsung Health Monitor won't be supported on Android 11 (or older)

Samsung recently released an update (version 1.3.6.001) to the Samsung Health Monitor app on Galaxy devices. After installing the update, the app shows a notification regarding support.

The notice says that the next version of Samsung Health Monitor (1.4.1) won't be supported on phones running Android 11 (or older). Only devices running Android 12 (or newer) can run the app.

This means you won't be able to take blood pressure and electrocardiograph (ECG) readings using your Galaxy Watch, as your connected phone won't support it.

The current version of the Samsung Health Monitor app will continue to work on such older phones. However, new features won't be added to such phones.

You can read the complete announcement below.

[Notice] Samsung Health Monitor will no longer support Android OS 9.0, OS 10.0, OS 11.0

October 14, 2024

Dear Samsung Health Monitor user,

Please be advised that from 23/12/2024, Samsung Health Monitor (v 1.4.1) will no longer be available on Android OS 11.0 or lower.

We appreciate your understanding, and we highly recommend that you upgrade your OS version to Android OS 12.0 or higher.

You may still use Samsung Health Monitor, without upgrading Android OS, but will only be able to use limited services and features without further support. So, Samsung Health Monitor recommends that you update your Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Smartphone to the latest OS.

Thank you.
