Samsung held the ‘2022 C Lab Startup Demo Day' on November 24 at the Samsung Electronics R&D Campus in Seoul, Seocho-gu. The event was held to bring forward all the achievements of the external startups that are directly fostered by Samsung over the past year.
The C Lab Startup Demo Day is an event that has been held every year since 2019. The major agenda of this event is to let people, businesses, and investors know about the growth of the startups nurtured by Samsung. It will also help attract new business cooperation and investment.
Around 300 people participated in the event, which also included top-tier executives from 20 startups. This included National Assembly member Um Tae-young, Samsung Electronics' Management Support Office President Park Hak-kyu, C-Lab advisory committee members, C-Lab officials, and Samsung Electronics employees.
Samsung established the C-Lab Inside program to venture into fostering startups created by its employees in December 2012. In 2018, it established the C-Lab Outside, which would foster external startups to revitalize the domestic startup ecosystem, and also create quality jobs for the locals. The C-Lab Outside is jointly operated by Samsung Electronics and Daegu/Gyeongbuk Center for Creative Economy and Innovation.
Over the next five years, Samsung hoped to nurture 300 external startups and 200 in-house venture projects. As of now, it has selected 506 startups, which include 304 external and 202 internal startups. A total of 521 C-Labs have amassed KRW 1.34 trillion in accumulated investment and created over 8,700 jobs.
Meanwhile, Samsung has selected 20 new startups, which it will support and provide expertise for via C-Lab Outside for the next year. For more information, you can check out the official announcement.
