Samsung is pushing its upcoming Galaxy devices through mandatory regulatory approval processes. And as you might recall, the base Galaxy Tab S9 and the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra passed through NBTC (National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission) in Thailand last week. The Plus variant was missing, but fret not. Samsung still plans to release it.
The Galaxy Tab S9+ recently followed in the footsteps of its smaller and bigger siblings. It, too, gained NBTC's approval, virtually confirming that Samsung intends to continue the Tab S legacy and release three high-end tablet models soon.
How soon? The NBTC doesn't say, but the industry expects Samsung to introduce the Galaxy Tab S9 series at the next Unpacked event, which should happen on July 27. The NBTC does mention that the Galaxy Tab S9+ carries model number SM-X816B, so it is a 5G tablet (via Gizmochina). Nevertheless, Wi-Fi-only versions should also exist.
Galaxy Tab S9+ may look similar but boast better hardware
There's not much Samsung can do to evolve the exterior design of its high-end tablets at this point. The Galaxy S tablet design has more or less peaked, and the Tab S9+ may present only minor aesthetic changes.
Under the hood, however, the Galaxy Tab S9+ should rock the newer Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. And the device is expected to run One UI 5.1.1 out of the box.
Samsung recently launched the One UI 5.1.1 beta program for the ongoing Galaxy Tab S8 series in Korea. The update improves multitasking and the S Pen experience. Split-screen and pop-up view are even easier to use, and now, hovering the S Pen on top of app shortcuts in the taskbar reveals a small preview of the app.
As usual, the upcoming Galaxy Tab S flagship series will be compatible with various keyboard covers designed for customers who want to get even more productive with their tablets. Whether or not Samsung adjusted keyboard cover prices remains to be seen. We will learn more about the Galaxy Tab S9+ and its accessories later this month, so stay tuned.
