Samsung Networks has announced that it is offering a private 5G network to Hoban Constructions, a leading construction firm in South Korea, in partnership with NAVER Cloud. The private 5G connectivity service offers improved efficiency, safety, and security at construction sites. It offers 5G coverage for a specific area or worksite.
Samsung Networks and NAVER Cloud say that private 5G communication at construction sites will support highly mobile workers and machinery. It can improve worksite efficiency by bringing the ability to monitor construction sites through drone-based high-resolution monitoring, IoT concrete strength sensors, construction site management solutions, smart safety jackets, and real-time CCTV monitoring.

NAVER Cloud has a license to offer private 5G networks in South Korea. It uses a private radio spectrum to offer private 5G communication to enterprises. The companies used Samsung Networks' outdoor radios, baseband units, and 5G SA(Standalone) Compact Core. This one-box solution from the South Korean firm supports the mid-band 5G spectrum (4.7GHz).
Yong Chang, VP of Global Sales and Marketing at Samsung Networks, said, “We are delighted to build on our collaboration with NAVER Cloud to bring new 5G innovations to Hoban Construction. Our advanced network technology will help construction companies in expanding what’s possible, by bringing forth new tools and applications that will optimize their operations and improve safety on-site.”
