Samsung had some issues with its Dropship module, preventing users from sharing files and using the GTS (Galaxy to Share) integration. Thankfully, Samsung announced earlier today that Dropship has recovered.
The Good Lock moderator on Samsung's Community forums confirmed earlier today that Dropship suffered some setbacks. But after checking server-side errors and performing more testing, the team recovered the Dropship servers to normal operations.
Previously, Dropship server-side issues led to users being unable to upload files or use Galaxy to Share. Now, if you are a Dropship user, you should be able to use the Good Lock module unhindered.
Wait. What is Dropship again?
Dropship is a Good Lock module that lets users share files similar to Nearby Share and Quick Share. Except it uses an internet connection rather than Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, so it's available for virtually any device, as long as you're the one receiving the files. Otherwise, you need a Galaxy device with Android 13 and Good Lock.
Samsung released this Good Lock module last year, but if you are a Good Lock user and you still haven't heard of Dropship, that's because it remains exclusive to South Korea.
The reason for this exclusivity is unknown. But perhaps it has anything to do with Samsung not wanting to get in trouble for offering a file-sharing service. Dropship has a limit of 5GB of file transfers per day, and senders need a Samsung account.
Whether Samsung will release the Dropship module in more markets remains to be seen. But if you already were using it, you should now be able to transfer files again without facing server-side issues.
