International Data Corporation (IDC) has published an analysis on shipments of wrist-worn wearable devices worldwide in Q1, Q2, and Q3 of 2024.

According to the report, Samsung shipped 11.5 million fitness bands and smartwatches in the first, second, and third quarters of 2024 combined, which gave it a market share of 8.3%. That’s 2.2 million higher compared to wrist-worn wearables that it shipped in Q1, Q2, and Q3 of 2023 combined, where it had a market share of 6.6%.

The latest lineup of Samsung’s smartwatches includes three products, the Galaxy Watch Ultra, Galaxy Watch 7, and Galaxy Watch FE, covering all three price points, entry-level, mid-range, and high-end, giving people with various budgets at least one option in the Galaxy Watch series.

That, plus the ultra-affordable Galaxy Fit 3, has helped the South Korean tech giant sell a high number of wrist-worn wearables in 2024 compared to 2023. That wasn’t the case earlier, when Samsung only offered two models, both in the mid-range price category, leaving people with lower and higher budgets without any option.

The story continues after the video…

Despite that, Samsung is still in fourth place in total number of shipments. Xiaomi is in the third position with 20.5 million shipments, Apple is in second place with 22.5 million shipments, and Huawei is leading the pack with 23.6 million shipments. The South Korean tech giant has a long way to go before becoming the leader.
