Samsung smart TV users across the United States will soon get access to healthcare via their big-screen devices. The Korean tech giant has partnered with HealthTap, the USA's leading virtual primary care provider, to bring virtual healthcare to its smart TVs.
HealthTap demonstrated the Samsung smart TV extension at SDC22. Through it, customers in the USA can seamlessly connect to the HealthTap interactive healthcare platform and get in touch with a doctor of their choice via a connected TV camera from the comfort of their homes. Customers will have several tools at their disposal and be able to review doctor bios, credentials, and video interviews. They'll have the ability to schedule an appointment for virtual sessions via their Samsung smart TVs.
Sasmung smart TV users in other countries may also benefit from this collaboration
According to the official announcement (via BusinessWire), senior citizens in the United States comprise one of Samsung's largest purchase segments of smart TVs. As such, this strategic collaboration should benefit senior citizens the most.
Worth noting is that HealthTap virtual doctor appointments are available in many other countries besides the USA through the dedicated HealthTap app, with the caveat that customers always connect with U.S.-board-certified doctors. That being said, it's not entirely clear if Samsung smart TV owners in other countries will get access to remote healthcare via HealthTap through this new strategic collaboration. Availability details are yet unclear.
