Samsung has been adding lots of features to its smart TVs over the past few years, but most of them were related to content consumption. Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic forced work-from-home situations, the company ensured that its TVs are more than content consumption devices.
First up, Samsung added an improved Ambient Mode to its QLED and Neo QLED TVs. You can use the SmartThings app on your smartphone to take a picture of the area around your TV, and the Ambient Mode will replicate those visuals on your TV. When you're not watching content, the TV will show the background so that it appears floating on the wall.
The South Korean firm also added a full-fledged SmartThings app to its smart TV lineup. You can use the app to control various smart home products directly from Samsung's new smart TVs without using a phone. The TVs now support more types of smart home devices.
The company also improved the Samsung Health experience. Its new smart TVs can fetch data right from your Galaxy Watch 4 and show it on the screen to see how you are performing. Thanks to webcam compatibility, you can watch workout videos and your own video in split-screen mode to see if your posture is correct.
So, right from making the TV a treat to watch when you're not watching videos to helping you get fitter, Samsung is making sure its smart TVs help you in more ways than one and be a better value proposition.
