Samsung's SmartThings Energy service lets consumers monitor their home appliances' energy consumption, along with individual device monitoring and energy switching. Now, Samsung is all set to roll out a new update that will expand the SmartThings Energy service to more of its products and help users manage energy efficiently this summer.
In an official post, the company announced that on June 29th, via an update to the SmartThings app, Samsung will be expanding the support for the SmartThings Energy service that will allow consumers to practice energy-saving methods on a wide variety of products. The SmartThings Energy service comes with an “AI saving mode.” When this mode is in use, the power consumption of various connected devices (including ACs) is checked, and they are operated in power-saving mode.
The AI saving mode helps save up to 21% monthly power consumption
The AI saving mode works intelligently and gets the total energy consumption usage from Korea Electric Power Corporation. After the consumer sets a target power usage target, the AI compares the daily power target and predicted usage. If the predicted usage is expected to exceed the daily power target, the appliances are operated in power-saving mode. This saves up to 21% of the monthly power consumption.
Samsung will be expanding the SmartThings Energy services to last year's Bespoke refrigerators and Bespoke washer and dryer. Thanks to this, more consumers will be able to save more energy when using their home appliances. The company will also be updating the hygiene-related UV LED sterilization function.
