Samsung makes some of the best smartwatches for Android smartphones. However, its smartwatch market share dropped in India in 2021 as local brands soared. Even Apple's market share fell, mainly owing to the rise in demand for cheaper smartwatches.
According to the latest data from Counterpoint Research, Samsung had a 6% share in India's smartwatch market in 2020, and it ranked fifth during that period. In 2021, its sales grew 2x, but it still dropped out of the top five list. Local brands Boat and Fire Boltt rose to second and third places, respectively.
The Galaxy Watch Active 2 was Samsung's best-selling smartwatch in India. The recently-launched Galaxy Watch 4 also saw decent sales, contributing 16% of sales for the South Korean firm.
Noise was the best-selling smartwatch brand in India with a market share of 27%, while Boat captured 26% of the market. Fire Boltt had a 13% share of the market, and Realme's market share dropped to 6%. Amazfit, a famous smartwatch brand in the entry-level segment, had a 5% market share in 2021.
