Samsung is progressing with its One UI 5.0 beta program for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 behind closed doors. So far, Galaxy Z Fold 3 users in select markets have received two One UI 5.0 beta updates, but we have strong reasons to believe that Samsung is now testing a third One UI 5.0 beta build internally for the 2021 foldable flagship.
The Korean tech giant started testing One UI 5.0 for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 internally at its development labs back in mid-August. Beta 1 debuted earlier this month, and the second One UI 5.0 beta update started rolling out this week. The company is now testing the third One UI 5.0 beta release for the Galaxy Z Fold 3, which might be rolling out soon to Samsung Members participating in the testing phase.
There's no way to tell when exactly the third One UI 5.0 beta update will be available for the 2021 foldable phone, but we'll keep you up to speed once we find out more.
If you're not participating in the beta program but looking forward to the public release, the latter might happen before the end of 2022. Nevertheless, the Galaxy S22 series will be the first to exit the One UI 5.0 beta stage — possibly next week — and the Galaxy Z Fold 4 / Z Flip 4 might be next in line. And although it's difficult to be certain of when future Samsung firmware updates become available, we expect the 2022 foldable phones to take precedence over the 2021 models. With that in mind, it's probably wise if you don't get too excited over a possible public release for the Z Fold 3 before the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 get their share.
