Samsung was the USA’s largest consumer electronics vendor in Q1 2020

Samsung Electronics maintained its lead in the USA consumer electronics market in Q1 2020, according to ETNews citing research firm Traqline. The company improved its share by 1% compared to a year before, covering 20.9% of the market at the end of the first quarter.

Refrigerators US market share

The company's French door refrigerators saw strong sales and have covered 31.3% of the US market. Samsung remained the largest vendor in the USA for the 16th consecutive year, solidifying its position in the consumer electronics market. Its share in this segment grew by 2.9% year-on-year. Reportedly, demand for Samsung's Family Hub refrigerators continues to grow. The 2020 Family Hub lineup introduced at CES 2020 improves upon the previous generation with deeper AI integration and new ViewInside cameras.

Washing machines and dryers US market share

Meanwhile, the company's washing machines have covered 21% of the market at the end of Q1 2020, outperforming rival products for the 7th consecutive quarter. Likewise, Samsung maintained the lead in the dryers market for the 7th quarter in a row, and accounted for 19.9% of the USA market.

Samsung's washing machines are manufactured at the Newberry plant in South Carolina. The factory was temporarily shut down a few times before due to the COVID-19 virus.

Kitchen appliances US market share

The recent report goes on to mention that Samsung recorded enough microwave oven sales to win over 14% of the market. At the same time, its cooktops and ovens have accounted for 18% of all the sales nationwide at the end of Q1 2020.
