Samsung Germany and crypto hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger have announced a new partnership with a shared goal: to enable easy and safe buying, selling, and trading on Web3. The two companies have announced the Web3 Starter Bundle, which will go live through Amazon and includes next-generation Samsung Galaxy devices and Ledger hardware wallets.

Web3 might be the future of the World Wide Web. It's a concept for a new iteration of the internet based on concepts like blockchain technologies, token-based economics, and decentralization. In other words, while the current Web 2.0 system centralizes data across a few giant tech companies, Web3 (or Web 3.0) is envisioned as a decentralized platform with greater security, scalability, and privacy. In a Web3 world, all data and content, including cryptocurrencies, would be registered on blockchains and distributed via peer-to-peer networks.

Galaxy S23 series embracing Ledger and Web3?

Ledger is one of the leading cryptocurrency hardware wallet providers, and the Ledger Nano X is compatible with and connects to smartphones via Bluetooth. Samsung, a supporter of Web3, has now partnered with Ledger to offer its Galaxy devices in bundles that include Ledger's hardware wallet technologies.

Prospective buyers are now able to register for the Samsung x Ledger Bundle, as it were, via Amazon Germany. Customers who pre-register for the upcoming Samsung x Ledger Bundle can get a free NFT. The pre-registration offer is available until February 1. Incidentally, that's the day when Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S23 series at Unpacked.

The official Samsung x Ledger Bundle announcement doesn't mention which “next-generation” Galaxy phones will be included in the bundle, but it sounds a lot like the Galaxy S23 series might be involved.

The Chief Experience Officer at Ledger, Ian Rogers, said: “in 2023, good customer service includes providing the best possible security. Security and user-friendliness are just as important to Samsung as they are to Ledger. Ledger is a great fit for Samsung smartphones because the Ledger Live app makes it easy and secure to connect to Web3, NFTs, and cryptocoins.”

Aside from offering the Samsung x Ledger Bundle, which should include a hardware Ledger wallet, Samsung could pre-load the Ledger Live app with the Galaxy S23 at launch. As a reminder, registrations are also open for the Galaxy S23 series, and early adopters get $50 in Samsung Credit.

Update: Ledger got in touch and confirmed that they have nothing to announce regarding Ledger Live right now.
