Chinese smartphone makers are facing a pretty rough situation in Europe. After OPPO and OnePlus exited the German market, Vivo followed suit and shut down its website for the foreseeable future. According to new reports, another Chinese brand and Samsung's rival in the mid-range smartphone segment, Realme, is exiting the German market imminently.
Realme Germany representatives told NextPit that the company is all set to close its business operations in Germany. This is because of the ongoing battle with Nokia, which was also responsible for Vivo's exit from the country. Realme said that it would redirect its German budget to other European markets and try to mitigate the losses caused by the exit from the country.
While Realme is exiting the German market, it will keep its presence in the rest of the core European markets, and its German customers will continue to get service and software support. With the exit of Realme, the entire BBK Group, the parent company for the major smartphone brands including Realme, OPPO, VIVO, and OnePlus, has lost its presence in Germany.
This all began when Nokia sued OPPO and OnePlus for patent infringement in Germany, which was won by Nokia, resulting in the exit of OPPO and OnePlus from the country. In the case of Realme, it is still hopeful for any positive developments regarding the license negotiations with Nokia before it can commence its operations in Germany.
