Don’t like Galaxy Watch 4 accuracy? Upgrade to Galaxy Watch 7

Samsung makes some of the best smartwatches for Android users, but when you expect those Galaxy Watches to be accurate workout trackers, they start to fall apart. Their heart rate and GPS tracking are lackluster.

If you have a Galaxy Watch 4 and are disappointed by its inaccurate heart rate and GPS tracking, you should consider upgrading to the Galaxy Watch 7. Here are two important reasons why.

Two great reasons for Galaxy Watch 4 users to upgrade to Galaxy Watch 7

Samsung has finally upgraded its heart rate sensors and GPS to improve the accuracy of workout tracking with the Galaxy Watch 7 (and the Galaxy Watch Ultra).

1. Samsung’s new sensor is claimed to be a lot more accurate

The Galaxy Watch 7 uses a newer-generation BioActive Sensor from Samsung with more LEDs (with more colors) and accurate LEDs. The South Korean firm claims this new sensor offers more precise heart rate tracking than the previous-generation sensor.

More importantly, the new sensor captures 30% more accurate data during high-intensity workouts. This is important, as the heart rate tracking accuracy of most smartwatches and fitness tracking bands tends to reduce when there is a lot of movement.

Samsung has also changed the shape of the surface near the Galaxy Watch 7’s sensors to improve the accuracy of the heart rate tracking, even if it meant leaving out Wireless PowerShare charging through Galaxy smartphones.

2. Dual-frequency GPS for improved outdoor workout tracking accuracy

Samsung has used a dual-frequency GPS in its new smartwatch. It can pinpoint which lane of the road the user is currently located on rather than just detect the road.

It can also improve the accuracy of location tracking in places with a lot of obstruction between the smartwatch and the GPS satellites. For example, cities have many tall buildings or trees on the footpath. Another example is running trails with a lot of tree cover, hills, or mountains.

So, whether you are cycling or running in the city or on a trail, the dual-frequency GPS should improve your location accuracy.

For most people, these two improvements could be the difference between buying and not buying a particular smartwatch. The South Korean firm also claimed that it is using AI to improve the accuracy of heart rate and sleep tracking.

So, if you (like me) are disappointed with the health and workout tracking accuracy of your Galaxy Watch 4, the Galaxy Watch 7 could be an excellent upgrade for you, especially since the Galaxy Watch 4 will likely not get any Wear OS update after the upcoming Wear OS 5-based One UI Watch 6 update.
